Join us on April 22 at 18:30 at Hellerud Upper Secondary School (Tveita) for an evening about resistance, dignity, and global solidarity. We will explore the history of how the people of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde brought an end to centuries of Portuguese colonial rule through a determined and organised struggle for liberation.
The evening marks the release of Cuba and the Independence War in Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde by Víctor Dreke Cruz. The book is a firsthand account by a central participant in Cuba’s internationalist efforts, offering a unique insight into the liberation struggle led by Amílcar Cabral and PAIGC, as well as the political and military support Cuba provided in the fight against Portuguese colonialism. The publication sheds light on an important chapter in African and international anti-colonial history, and invites reflection on what solidarity between peoples can mean in practice.
